unsupervised as of yet, while out practicing Friday the supervisor (below), was kind enough to invite me out on a REAL FREAKIN' YACHT for Saturday. A little apprehensive, I decided it was an opportunity not to be missed.

Here we are, having motored out of Lake Union and into the lock, which will lower us to sea level, and

voila, the magical doors open and release us into the ocean (well Puget Sound).

Two rough and ready sailor folk (well sailor-physician and sailor-dad invented spellcheck) enjoying a brewsky (appropriately named 'Full Sail') on the calm seas before the fun begins.

Yes, they let me drive. And no, I didn't flip the boat.

Apparently when the boat is at this angle to the water it's a good thing.

The stovetop and kettle are actually level.

Look Ma, no hands!

Turning the boat (tacking) is a three man effort.

Time to go home, that is Olympic National Park in the background.

Don't forget to stop and pump out the day's biological waste.

...and after going through a few draw bridges, we're home!
Good times were had all around, although I found out that I get seasick, and it's really cold out on the open seas, even when the sun is shining and you are wearing lots of layers. I got home, took a long, piping hot shower, and slept for 12 hours. Now it's time to memorize Korean vocab! Fun!
