Now, sitting in my new and extremely humble abode adjacent to the UW campus, the loneliness has subsided and I'm kind of starting to enjoy the feeling of being in a new, big city, all by myself. Let's post some pictures.
Going home to Arkansas, which I haven't seen in over 2 years, was like going there for the first time. I'd forgotten how beautifully green and mountainous it is, how peaceful and unpretentious, and how nature's goings-on far outpaced humanity's.

Spending some quality time with the fam

and old friends

It was also great, and a little overwhelming, to remember the awesome selection of stuff we have in 'merica, like

But then I was horrified by how every single day of every single week, if I wanted to leave the house, I had to drive (usually my brother's truck, the fuel consumption of which is about $20/hr of driving time), and how my parents went out to eat almost every day, and every time my mom would get what was leftover from her wayyyy too big meal 'to go' in a styrofoam container, as well as get a styrofoam cup for her ice tea. Later, I might eat the leftovers, or they might just get thrown away, unseparated from their container.
Also, whenever I visit home, it's like whatever I've been up to lately gets erased and I have to start over as a little boy. Mostly I mean that from a living-with-parents-again situational point of view, because to my Mom and Dad, I'm always just their little baby, and whatever silly antics I get up to, like traveling around the world, caring a little about the environment, or playing accordion, are seen as passing fads no different from hypercolor t-shirts or subwoofers in the car.
So it's time to go, and now I'm in Seattle!

I can easily walk or ride my bike

to Trader Joe's QFC, Safeway, and a farmer's market from my quaint apartment:

And I thought I was going to be completely friendless for the next 2 weeks until roomie gets here -

but guess who was in town visiting James from the WashU Waterman Crew???

Now that I've got the crib all set up with craigslisted or dumpstered furniture, and possess the internet, I just need to take care of a couple bureaucratic matters like getting a WA driver's license and student ID, and I'm good to go until the end of September. I am also on the prowl for a sweet 오토바이 under about $2500, so if I find a set of wicked wheels from the 90's, I'll be sure and post.
As always, there are more photos to browse on flickr.
