What's the deal with this cartoon? It's mildly funny on first read, but then I pondered it for a moment and just thought, why? Thinking something was missing from the translation, I went back to the original Korean, and they match up better than most translations (except for when he says "You were the only one who cared for me despite me being black". A more accurate translation would be something like "It was you who treated me me most humanely when I was mistreated by others for being black".)
So what's the point? Why is it that a Korean guy and black guy are escaping from prison together? Does the artist see Koreans and African-American's as being in the same boat as far as their racial place on the world stage? Team members in the fight against white hegemony? I guess Koreans do really like hip-hop.
Why is it that the black guy has to sacrifice himself for K-man just because he didn't discriminate against him? Was that some kind of favor, as opposed to an intrinsic human right, as most people assume? Why does K-guy defer so readily?
Then there are the two blonde white guys in the last frame. Oh man, black guy has jumped the gun, he didn't need to sacrifice himself at all. Are white people really that far ahead of the game?
Maybe my critical thinking skills are a little rusty, all having been out of school for a few years, but I don't get it. Somebody help.

Awww mannn, apparently living at home with my parents, I've adopted my Dad's habit of calling everything by the opposite of what you know it to be...at least that's my excuse. I actually wanted to analyze this cartoon a little and hadn't gotten around to posting my thoughts about it yet, so before anyone else sees my mistake I better change it.
i see this as the white guys are sneaky and always find a way "around" things when it comes to helping their own "people." While the b-man is fed up with the social norm of not being accepted in society so instead of being rational we rather just give up and hope the next "colored" man while triumph. And the k-man is stratigic and knows that some things that are done aren't right but must be done if it benefits them......
how's that?? :D
